WITH THE 25TH ANNUAL HEMINGWAY DAYS AS A BACKDROP, SATELLITE INTERVIEWS WILL BE CONDUCTED LIVE FROM THE ERNEST HEMINGWAY HOME AND MUSEUM IN KEY WEST, FLORIDA, WHERE MORE THAN 60 FELINES EAT, PLAY AND ROAM IN PERFECT HARMONY

WHY:  MULTI-CAT HOMES ARE ON THE RISE!

71% of the 90 million cats owned by Americans live in multi-cat homes.

§         More than 13 million cats have been added to pet households in the past two years.

§         The average multi-cat household has three cats.

§         40 percent of multi-cat households make the extra effort to feed different meals to each cat.

The Hemingway cats, though they have extra toes, are just like other cats – they have different nutritional, physical, and even emotional needs. But, in multi-cat homes, many owners don't know how to give their beloved cats the individual attention they need. In this satellite interview, Steve Dale, renowned pet authority, will help multi-cat fanciers avoid common "catastrophes."

Home to approximately 60 cats, The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum is the former residence of Ernest Hemingway, the great American novelist and self-proclaimed cat fancier, and is the ultimate in the multi-cat home. About half of the cats at the museum are polydactyl, which means they have extra toes (normal cats have five front toes and four back toes). Ernest Hemingway was given a six-toed cat by a ship's captain and some of the cats who live on the museum grounds are descendants of that original cat.
