DETAILS:
Renowned neo-pop art sensation Romero Britto, who has painted such
unusual canvases as a BMW Mini-Cooper, a Ferrari and a Douglas DC-3,
has turned the pool deck on Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the
Seas into a work of art. Britto’s latest achievement, which
to date is the largest piece of art ever to go to sea, is the culmination
of a year’s worth of work. The Brazilian-born artist split
time between his Miami studio and the Finnish ship yard, where he
designed and painted his largest-ever piece.
Britto’s
vibrant painting only adds to the splendor of Royal Caribbean’s
Mariner of the Seas. At 1,000 feet long and 40% larger than the
average aircraft carrier, Mariner of the Seas has a 30-foot rock
climbing wall, an ice-skating rink, a luxurious spa and a four-story
high indoor “street” with shopping, dining and entertainment.
Mariner
of the Seas began weekly, year-round voyages from Port Canaveral,
Florida, to the Caribbean on November 16.

About Romero: Consistently
reinterpreting the meaning of art and its role in contemporary life,
Britto's work involves corporate campaigns like those for Absolut
Vodka, Pepsi Cola, and Movado. His creations for private collectors
are in such demand that limited edition prints supplement the original
works that are available. Similarly, some of Britto's work is translated
into fine art collectibles that allow the artist to reach the masses.
Britto also shares his talent with worthwhile international charitable
organizations such as St. Jude's, the American Red Cross and Best
Buddies.
