TOPIC/GUEST: NASCAR WIFE, COOKBOOK AUTHOR AND CHARITABLE ACTIVIST MARY EVERNHAM SHARES HER RACE-CAR READY RECIPES!!
Mary Evernham, wife of NASCAR great Ray Evernham, joined her husband for a week of racing at the Daytona 500 Int’l Speedway in Daytona, Florida. That’s because Mary and the other NASCAR wives always make sure their husband’s lives in the fast lane always include good food – hey, they even wrote the book on it. Mary has created meals such as Racin’namon Buns, Championship Chicken Fingers, Hot Rod Hot Wings, Motorsport Muffins & Pit Stop Ham & Cheese Quesadillas – all with quick and easy recipes & ingredients – and will show viewers how to fuel up with some of these race-car ready recipes. Perfect for race day and spectators who are on the sidelines at home entertaining guests for the big race at Daytona!!
Mary’s recipes have been featured in a cookbook she co-authored with other drivers’ wives called FAST FOOD: Fueling the Guys in the NASCAR Winston Cup Garage, which features racing-themed photos and more than 150 recipes from the NASCAR community. Proceeds from the cookbook are helping stem-cell transplant patients across the country. Mary also works with Country Crock’s “Hungry Driver” Program to prepare the meals – and it’s for a good cause. Country Crock will make donations of up to $20,000 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – a cause that’s very near & dear to Mary & Ray’s hearts. The couple have been active philanthropists for more than a decade.
FAST FACTS:
· Ray was also named national chairperson of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night® Walk, putting some serious horsepower behind the Society's efforts to raise funds for lifesaving cures for leukemia, lymphoma and Myeloma.
