In the Mobile World Congress(MWC), DJI released a new industry application flying platform: Matrice M200 series. As the first industry protection level flying platform, M200 is based on the core and control of Inspire2 and can be folded like Mavic Pro. The four-axis aircraft can be loaded in a car, mainly used in aerial photography data collection, inspection and other areas.
Perhaps the general public shows little interests in the release of an industrial drone, however, on top of the basic functions, M200 series possess some「Special Attributes」which might be further 「inherited」in the products to be released in the future. That makes it much more compelling and worthy of attention.
「Three Platform」Designed for Inspection
The M200 flying platform series released in this session include M200, M210 and M210 RTK. It should be noticed that M200 can work with a bottom-mounted single PTZ and M210 can go with a below-mounted double PTZ, an upper-mounted single PTZ. M210 can also be equipped with interfaces and linked with third party sensors and accessories. That is to say, it can achieve 360 degree full-directional inspection and data collection. Of course, 7-mile image transfer is the standard configuration.

On top of that, M210 RTK with D-RTK module can achieve center-meter level precision positioning, which can be used to achieve precision flight as efficient as agricultural drones.
(Upper-Mounted Single PTZ for Inspecting the Bottom of Bridges)
Apart from being IP43 protection level (although not completely water resistance, it is basically anti-fogging and anti-dust), just like Inspire 2, M200 series possess front-facing FPV camera and redundant design. Furthermore, the double cell makes it possible for fuselage to maintain power supply, which means it can work continuously without outage. As you can imagine, if there is an automatic charging station, drones can truly realize unmanned inspection and boost efficiency at the sametime.
Obstacle avoidance? naïve! Dodge aircrafts!
With each three-dimensional visual system in the front and below and an infrared sensor system on the top, M200 can avoid obstacles ahead, below and above.
There is a new technology built in M200 flying platform series: DJI AirSense, which can receive the ADS-B signal broadcasted by civil aviation airliners within a radius of a 10-kilometer area. By analyzing the location, height and speed of each airliner and the risks of near miss and collision and taking initiative to avoid obstacles when there is a risk of collision, the factor of flight safety has been greatly enhanced. DJI AirSense can bring greater safety for users and ensure more effective use of airspace.
According to DJI, with the current AirSense technology, M200 can sense the aircrafts nearby and take actions to avoid obstacles without broadcasting its own location.
Thermal Imagery Camera and a Wide Range of Lens
There are 3 types of PTZ in M200 flying platform series: bottom-mounted single PTZ (suitable for M200 and M210), bottom-mounted double PTZ (suitable for M210) and upper single PTZ (suitable for M210).
M200 flying platform series support Zenmuse X4S, X5S Camera, Zenmuse XT Thermal Imagery Camera and Zenmuse Z30 Telephote PTZ Camera. Zenmuse X4S Camera is equipped with a 1 inch sensor with 20 million pixels, a dynamic range of 11.6dB and 24mm equivalent focal length. The mechanic shuttle can effectively prevent smear as a result of fast moving. X5S is equipped with a new generation of micro M4/3 sensor with 20.8 million pixels, a dynamic range of 12.8 dB, which supports 8 types of lens.
Zenmuse XT Thermal Imagery Camera can capture clear and precise thermal image at any time and in any place, enabling users search for large areas in a short time or closely examine facilities beyond reach. As the first telephote PTZ camera launched by DJI, Zenmuse Z30 combines 30x optical zoom and 6x digital zoom, which provides users with powerful remote image acquisition capability so that users can obtain information in a flexible and rapid manner and safeguard the safety of both users and devices.
Infrastructure Inspection: when inspecting cables, iron towers and bridges, inspectors will always bear the risks of electric shock or falling down. M200 flying platform series is stable and reliable and capable of adapting to complicated natural circumstances. Inspectors can observe and monitor all details of targeted object from all angles and complete inspection in distance. M200 flying platform series can achieve real time inspection of breakdowns in buildings, roads and bridges, thus considerably elevating the precision of inspection.
Energy Facilities Inspection: Operation and maintenance is a money and time-consuming process. Nowadays, by virtue of the stable flight performance and sound adaptability for complicated environment of M200 flying platform series, it is possible to see all details when inspecting largescale electric power circuits. It can also be used to inspect wind turbines and offshore oil drilling platforms from all angles.
Construction Site Surveying and Mapping: M200 flying platform series can be applied to monitor construction progress and ensure the effective utilization of resources. Rated as industrial protection level, M200 can be used for surveying and mapping under a wide range of environment circumstances.
Public Security: In the application scenarios of conflagration, research and rescue and other natural disasters, M200 flying platform series carrying visible light and thermal imagery PTZ cameras can detect potential risks immediately and provide data for professionals to make decisions, thus minimizing the personal safety risks.
Unique Flight Management System
M200 flying platform series supports several applications. In response to the industry application scenarios, DJI developed DJI Pilot™ Android application, which has boosted users experience. In addition, M200 also supports DJI GO 4 AND GS Pro ground station.
M200 flying platform series fully supports DJI Onboard SDK and mobile SDK, which can cater for the multiple demands of users in flight planning, data collection and analysis.
DJI FlightHub™ software suit, which is compatible with DJI Pilot™ can obtain airborne images and manage drone remotely. Via Internet, it can be used to monitor the behavior of frontline emergency rescue team in real time or remote access the process of inspection. With DJI FlightHub™, users can plan and track flying tasks; with easy and convenient control center, users can view videos in real time and remote control PTZ; with waypoint and dynamic electronic fence, users can plan flying tasks in advance.
There are two batteries available for M200 flying platform series, one is the 95Wh standard battery, and another is the 174Wh expanded battery which promises a maximum flight time of 38 minutes. When carrying a single lens, the maximum flight time can be shortened to 35 minutes.
